had happened on the two kids engaging in the unholy act and in a bid to
punish Victor, Solomon reportedly beat the boy till he gave up the
ghost.
Recounting the sad episode in his cell at
the State Criminal Investigation Department of the Command, Solomon said
he is cursing the evil spirit that led his late son into the grievous error of committing incest with his sister which led to the sad occurrence.
Narrating
how it all happened, the Igbo-Eze North Local Government Area of Enugu
State, native said he had come one day in April, 2016, and saw his young
son engaging in the sexual act with his younger sister right in his
bedroom.
“Victor was my son, an 11-year-old
boy. I had been receiving bad reports about him. The height of it was
that he started sleeping with his sister, who is eight-years-old.
I
had been receiving several reports about the ugly incident. Around 4.00
pm, I came back from work and met Victor sleeping with his sister in my
bedroom. The stepmother was not at home."
Solomon
continued that in his anger and a bid to punish the boy, he picked up a
stick beat him severely and in the process, the boy began convulsing
and then lost consciousness the next day.
He was rushed to the Gwarinpa General Hospital by the neighbours where he died soon after he got to the hospital.
Solomon
who had gone out the day the boy lost consciousness, was summoned to
the hospital by phone and when he got to the hospital, he was told his
son had died from internal bleeding as a result of the severe beating he
had given him the next day.
He was detained by the doctor who called in the police from the Gwarinpa police station, and the suspect was arrested.
“I
wept when the doctor told me that my son had died. I didn’t have the
intention to kill my son. I was trying to correct him because of the
immoral act he committed. How can I beat my son to death? I couldn’t
believe what I saw. I only acted in anger; I never wanted to kill my
son,” the distraught father said.
